Vintage Mexican Folk Art Ashtray From Acapulco - Primitive Design - Doylestown - decorate art

Vintage ashtray from a bar in Acapulco, Mexico, hand made in a tan ceramic and hand decorated in chocolate brown. The ashtray almost resembles a traditional Mexican molcajete, or mortar, but with a flatter bowl set on the 3 stubby legs. In the center of the ashtray is a primitive cat-like figure wearing a jacket who is surrounded by lettering along the rim that reads "Remember You Bar Don Quijote Acapulco Gro Caleta." Delightful folk art design.

Good vintage condition. Surface is quite worn, adding to the visual character.

Marked on front: "Remember You Bar Don Quijote Acapulco Gro Caleta" (Note: "Gro" is the abbreviation for the Mexican state of Guerrero, where Acapulco is located.)
